Blue Trail Highlighted at International Oceans Innovation Showcase
With 1400 social entrepreneurs, philanthropists and investors gathering at Fort Mason this week for the acclaimed SOCAP(Social Capital Markets) conference, we were delighted to be invited to be part of their Oceans Innovation Showcase yesterday. With us were cutting-edge endeavors such asBlooSee, Olazul and Upwell.
Each year the conference has specific focus areas. This year ocean sustainabilty is one, with the goal of fueling innovation and attracting a broader set of stakeholders. Here are just a few of the global projects underway.
Charting a New Course for 2014 and beyond
This has been quite a summer! Just as artist Gene Felice was finalizing the design for Oceanic Scales, to be installed on the San Francisco waterfront this September, we hit a last-minute permit obstacle. So we have decided to postpone until 2014.
The unexpected gift is that we can now renew our efforts to obtain funding for our other finalist designs for 2014-15. We just submitted a proposal to the National Endowment for the Arts and are exploring other underwriting possibilities.
