Social Practices Art Network (SPAN) is currently being developed by Jules Rochielle. The intention of this site is to create a resource for individuals, organizations, community groups and institutions that are interested in new genre arts forms and practices. It is meant to serve as a platform for a variety of practices.
Outreach is being conducted to Social Practice art communities and colleagues around the globe. If you would like to submit any type of content please visit Contribute Content and fill in the form.
Social Practices Art Network (SPAN) was inspired by the closing of Community Arts Network (CAN). Please view the message from Linda Frye Burnham and Steven Durland the founders of CAN.
About two months ago (along with Linda Frye Burnham and Steven Durland) I began to moderate the CAN facebook community page and decided to launch SPAN to support the needs of that existing community. The CAN archive is currently archived on Archive-It courtesy of Indiana University here.
This site is not meant to replace CAN but it is meant to be it’s own resource and to function as a critically need resource for a variety of new genre art practices, public practices and socially engaged practices. Thank you for visiting and please
join our community.
SPAN will be launching a media project call Social Practices News Network
(SPNN). This media service will be able to conduct live and recorded interviews with individuals from around the globe. We will be piloting this media program in a three weeks.
Thank you for taking an interest in this exciting new project. We looking forward to cultivating this site with information that is relevant to you.
