Art+Fog Collective Exhibit

(May-October 2025)

This hands-on exhibit at UCSC Seymour Marine Discovery Center invites visitors of all ages to explore the science and art of fog water harvesting. Inside, you’ll find a working fog tank and fog machine that simulate coastal conditions, miniature fog catchers that demonstrate how mesh can collect atmospheric moisture, and a full-scale garden bed system for fog water collection, designed for both beauty and function. Developed by the Art+Fog Collective and FogNet, the exhibit blends sculpture, environmental science, and DIY design to reveal how fog can be a vital water source in a changing climate. Inspired by coastal ecosystems and global fog-harvesting practices, the team offers open-source plans and creative tools so anyone can build their own system at home or in their community. This exhibit is an invitation: to learn, to experiment, and to imagine a future where art and ecology grow side by side.
